What does InterviewBit do?
InterviewBit is a company based in India, most well known for their software engineering technical interview practice questions. Similar to Leetcode & HackerRank, these questions help their users prepare for upcoming technical challenges and interviews. They also have contests and a company matching system, as well.
In 2019, they launched an additional element to their business called Scaler Academy. It is a full 2-year course. Students receive a certificate upon graduation. They can also receive certificates for completing 3-6 month long sub-modules throughout the duration.
Who is InterviewBit for?
For software engineers who are looking to advance their technical skills and practice for technical interviews, InterviewBit is a helpful resource. While the questions are not classified by skill, there are levels so users can see a progression of their work. For software engineers in India who are looking to get job-ready, Scaler Academy could prove beneficial.
What does InterviewBit cost? How much work is involved?
If you want to practice interview questions, you only need to create a profile. For users who are looking to join the Academy, there is a 4-hour timed assessment that can only be accessed at 8pm IST (India time) on 2 specific days for each batch.
Students can choose payment and course duration plans. The 6 month certificate costs ₹39,999 (roughly $540 USD), the 12 month certificate costs ₹69,999 (roughly $950 USD), and the full 2-year program costs ₹1,19,999 (roughly $1625 USD).
Ratings and reviews
Reviews for Scaler Academy are mixed, but mainly positive. On Quora, students found the program extremely beneficial as they learned new skills and embarked on their job search. They were especially excited about the mentoring opportunities.
In terms of the practice technical questions, most of the reviews are from users in India who have a fair amount of positive feedback. The consistency of the questions means that they can continue practicing everyday and not run out. In addition, they like the contests and easy-to-see time limits.
Many of the reviews online for the practice questions are fairly old, but there are some notes about the videos and comments not loading or playing. There is potential that these problems have been solved since the reviews were written. Reviews also explain that some questions are missing solutions or the solutions are too narrow.
Alternatives to InterviewBit
There are other websites that compile software engineering questions, similar to InterviewBit. A good option is AlgoExpert, which is a platform where software engineers can practice questions that cover a variety of interview topics.
Leetcode is another well known alternative. Most people who use Leetcode feel that the questions are more geared towards real work and are often better practice for technical interviews. With exercises in Python and JavaScript for beginners and advanced engineers, CheckiO is a good free resource to check out.
Created by a former Google software engineer, Interview Cake is a study tool that teaches people the right way to think about technical questions so they do well in interviews. Read more about Interview Cake in our review. Similarly, Codebasil features questions written by software engineers at top tech companies like Facebook, Apple, and Amazon.
Coderbyte offer a mix of free and paid resources and challenges for software engineers looking to practice their skills. Read more about Coderbyte in our review. For people looking to prep with real world problems, CodeKata provides challenges that mimic requests from real tech companies. Software engineers can use the tracks offered by Educative to brush up on skills or practice for specific-language interviews.
HackerRank is similar to InterviewBit, as well. They are the #1 assessment service for companies to test candidates on technical interviews. Their practice questions are classified by skill level in data structures, algorithms, and general math and in a variety of languages. You can also check out CodeChef for a free online community and platform to practice software engineering technical questions.
How does InterviewBit compare to Pathrise?
InterviewBit practice questions are a good tool for software engineers of all skill levels to use in preparation for their technical interviews. The questions are based on levels and grouped by topic. Pathrise is focused on helping our fellows with the entire job search, including more than just mastering the technical questions. We often recommend fellows utilize online practice questions, like the ones on InterviewBit.
The Academy program has similar elements to Pathrise, but we have a flexible curriculum that gives our fellows the opportunity to work 1-on-1 with their mentors on their own schedule. We also only have 4 hours of workshops per week.
The ability to schedule ad hoc sessions and work with their mentor when they need help the most is one of the factors that differentiates Pathrise from other services like Scaler Academy. In addition, the Academy is currently only open to students in India.
Pathrise is a career accelerator that works with students and professionals 1-on-1 so they can land their dream job in tech. With our tips and guidance, we’ve seen our fellows interview scores double.
If you want to work with any of our mentors 1-on-1 to get help with your software engineer interviews or with any other aspect of the job search, become a Pathrise fellow.
